10-Day Beach Tour: Pasikudah, Sigiriya and Bentota

Have an early breakfast and set off across the island to Pasikudah on the east coast. This is a long transfer day, and your chauffeur stops for breaks and meals along the way. Pasikudah is a broad sandy bay with shallow water and a quiet resort feel. Check in and unwind on the beach. Tomorrow you can choose paddle boarding, kayaking or snorkelling, which we arrange and you pay for locally.

Overnight: Pasikudah

After breakfast the day is yours. Pasikudah is a calm bay with shallow water, so we do not promise surfing here, but it suits paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkelling, which we can arrange for you. You pay for them locally. Spend the rest of the day at the hotel or on a walk along the long sandy bay.

Overnight: Pasikudah

After breakfast, leave the coast and drive inland to Sigiriya. Depending on the time you arrive, either check in first or go straight to the rock. Sigiriya Rock Fortress has landscaped water gardens at its foot and the remains of a royal citadel on top. You climb past the giant Lion's Paws to the summit, which looks out over forest, lakes and farmland. It is a long staircase, so carry a bottle of water and take breaks on the way. Then return to your hotel for the night.

Overnight: Sigiriya

After breakfast, drive from the middle of the island down to Bentota on the southwest coast. This is a long transfer day, and you stop along the way to stretch your legs and eat. Bentota is a resort area where the beach meets a river and a lagoon. Check in to your hotel and, depending on when you arrive, spend the evening by the pool or on the sand. The next day is an easy one.

Overnight: Bentota

A slow day in Bentota. A boat trip on the Bentota River is proposed, through waterways lined with mangroves and past riverside scenery where you may see birds. Whether it runs depends on the local operators, and the cost is confirmed separately. If you want something more active, ask a local provider about water activities that suit your interests and ability; equipment, instruction and charges are confirmed separately too. Spend the afternoon on the beach or at your hotel.

Overnight: Bentota

After breakfast, head north to Colombo for a city tour before you check in, depending on the day's timing. See Independence Square, a landmark built for the country's independence, and walk on Galle Face Green between the road and the ocean, with the city skyline along the shore. If time allows, explore the historic business streets of Fort and the crowded markets of Pettah. The evening in Colombo is free.

Overnight: Colombo

After breakfast, check out of the hotel at a time that suits your flight. If there is free time before the transfer, use it as you like. Your chauffeur then drives you to Bandaranaike International Airport so you arrive in good time; the transfer follows your confirmed flight schedule.
